I am doing research on Cerridwen. I am getting very confused by several resources such as in D.J. Conway's book CELTIC MAGIC. D.J. writes on page 84 that " The pentagram is a symbol of the Welsh Sow Goddess Cerridwen, otherwise known as the Morrigu,". I was under the impression that morrigan was a completely different diety from Cerridwen. Does anyone know of a good (read: not confusing and contradictory) resource for information on Cerridwen and the rest of the Celtic Pantheon? HELP PLEASE!!!

Hi all,

I apologise if advertising here causes offence but I am hoping that
the subject of this podcast will be of sufficient interest to the
subscribers to this list to warrant inclusion.

I produce the Celtic Myth Podshow (http://celticmythpodshow.com) which
is a free MP3 download and aims to tell the stories of Celtic
mythology to its listeners. We have started with the Irish
Mythological Cycle and aim to cover all of the Six Nations in the
series. The by-line of the show is "Bringing the Tales and Stories of
the Ancient Celts to your Fireside" which is the atmosphere we would
like to create. The old legends were recounted orally and only written
down in later years, so by hearing them told we are getting a step
closer to their original presentation and hopefull, meaning. That's
the theory anyway :) Our website also includes Maps of Ireland
with the places mentioned in the stories marked. Many of these places are
still exist and are spiritual centres to many people

Academic Hypocrites!

Hey guys, I've been meditating, recently, upon academia and many of their "practices" when the question entered my mind: Is there a word that denotes the practice prevailant amongst extremist scholars (such as Hutton) who, when they believe-- or agree with-- something will automatically invoke the academic concensus as the only "argument" that is necessary (which isn't actually an "argument" at all!); however, if they don't (or can't!) believe or agree with something they come up for as many reasons as they can for rejecting it, even regardless of the fact that most specialists in the field are of a different persuasion. (It simply doesn't seem like "polemic" would really apply as an apt denotation.) As an example of the latter, Hutton rather unequivocally ignored the general consensus of Celticists-- specialists in the field-- where an admittance of the Sovereign Rites and Sovereign-Goddesses of the Celtic tribes would have posed as useful information; not once, throughout "Pagan Religions" were we told that most Celtic scholars believe this (that is why I am so jaded, and why it pisses me off so desperately when other scholars that adore Hutton are so quick to excuse him or claim that he is simply following "academic protocol")! Indeed, another reason why I am so jaded is because he filtered what facts, or scholastic consensuses would be admitted to his readership-- this clearly leaves one with two impressions, because he is a "Professional Historian": 1.) There is NO evidence for such, 'cause he is a Historian and would certainly be aware of it if there were; and, 2.) either no scholars are in disagreement with him, or otherwise no other scholars have found any evidence, as well. I just hope I am not being too forward in admitting what harm this can potentially cause. Now, this isn't to say that one must believe everything one hears! However, it seems to me that it would be far more prudent to allow for other consensuses even if one does not, or cannot, agree with them; after all, why use, as an "argument" only the conclusions that agree with you, while denying the existence of those that you do not? Indeed, Hutton frequently uses, as "arguments", *only* the so-called "consensus" of specialist schoalrs where he agrees with them, chiefly throughout his recent "Witches, Druids & King Arthur". Hey, is there also an erudite term denoting this "practice" for "argument" within academia? *scratches his red head* I've just been wondering, is all...

Oh, and speaking of Hutton not giving equal weight to other scholastic leanings from specialists in a field, where he cannot bring himself to accept it, I just got ahold of a copy of Maire Breathnach's article from a Celtic studies journal (the title's in German and I don't feel like typing it out right now), called "The Sovereignty Goddess as Goddess of Death?" In it-- actually within a lengthy foot note-- the author brings our attention to the fact (as well as three other scholars, if I remember correctly without looking) that the Sheelagh-na-Gig carvings are STRIKINGLY similar to the description of many aged Sovereign-Goddesses throughout insular narrative lit. in which their pudenda is noted as hanging down between their knees, such as The Morrighan in "Da Derga's Hostel" (though, I may have to look that one up again, to see if I remmeber correctly).

Anyway, this clearly flies in direct opposition to Hutton's rather hard-nosed conclusions where he writes these carvings off as entirely a Christian invention for what seems to be to be VERY specious logic! (Of course, because Hutton write empirically-- why does he do that, anywya?!-- if one reads only his material *of course* one should expect him to make a superficially iron-clas "argument") I happen to tab this evidence right up there along with a scholar I found that reclaims the Green Man as a pagan god!

OH!!! And, one other important question I desperately would eventually appreciate an answer to (if I can find it, or anyone else here might know) is: Why DON'T scholars actually lay their cards out and explain why they have adopted a respective school of thought, and why they believe it to be superiour t all others that may very well lead to far different conclusions? It simply seems to me that Hutton often hides behind his personal methodology, which almost seems to *force* him to reach certain conclusions while rejecting everything else. So, I have come to believe that if he was open and honest in this way, than many more Pagans would simply view his material as one opinion of many, rather than that it is representative of the whole, or that every word he prints is infallible (a lot of cynical Pagans are of this belief regardless of when one PROVES to them otherwise-- and that's SO strange; for example, when PROVEN that what Norman Cohn said of Murray was demonstrably FALSE (in fact, it was a pack of lies!), they say "So?" and continue to proclaim that "she's a fool and has been debunked!" or even call her "the *biggest* Pagan douche!")! (Whew... Okay, Wade, catch a breath!)

Denoting Celtic Deism?

Hey guys, tonight I happened by the Half Price Bookstore and, as often occures, I found a book that I've been wanting to add to my personal Library for a while, now: TGE Powell's "The Celts"! Anyway, he said exactly what other Celktic scholars have said: that the Celts had a type of inter-tribal religion whereby the singular male god of each tribe (personified by the chiftain, pressumibly) was mated to the tribal land-goddess, rather than having a polytheistic religion as so many Pagans often imagine. Hey, a later scholar (Barry Cunliffe) even used the exact same illustrative examples as he: Th Daghdha and The Morrighan. Moreover, based upon the evidence found in material culture, iconography, and medieval textual sources most (if not all) of the deities we have on record are merely different manifestations of epithets for each other. In other words (which is also based upon my research) The Morrighan is an identity (rather than merely associated with) Anu, as well as Challeach, Eire, Samain, and other named goddesses from the Continent who I can't think of right now.

So, I was wondering, is anyone present, aware of any theologically-based terms or denotations that can describe such a religious belief [examples of the sort of therms I'm after are: henotheism, polytheism, monotheism, et al.] ? I ask, of course, because if I describe it in these terms, and even seem to hint at (despite the evidence of my argument) a schema whereby "all gods are one god, and all goddesses are one goddess" I'd be pilloried as not only a "history revisionist", but a "Fluff Bunny" of the highest degree, because everyone has been told that such a schema is an invented fiction with no bases in ancient history that was advanced by we "Wiccans" (though I do not call myself by that title, because of it's "Fluffy" connotations, these days).

By the way, in re-reading many of my books by noted Celtic scholars (specialists in the field), I see that all of them are firm in their belief that the Insular lit. [the great Irish epics] represent and reflect the ancient Irish paganism to one extent or another, and are filled with evidence of gods and goddesses. But, when one reads Hutton's "The Pagan Religions of the Ancient British Isles" he says with authoritarian zeal that these texts represent no pagan evidence nor present deities of any kind! How can he make these claims when they are no only so extremist, but atypical, and contrary to what actual specialists in the field of Celtic Studies are saying? Personally, I was also skeptical about his claim that he had Miranda Green read his sections on Celtic history when they were so far divorced from his actual views! One wonders what sections of his book she *actually* read?

Another thing that really bothers me about Pagans, as a whole, is their seemingly desperate NEED to pidgeon-hole certain so-called "Dark"-Goddesses, such as the Kali Ma and the Morrighan! As a result, if one doesn't define them as essentiually blood-thirsty, despite actual evidence to the contrary, they are labled with the upmost scorn! Kali is a primary example of this and contemporary Pagan ignorance to how She is factually worshipped! Unless one views Her as dangerous and threatening (even Deborah Lipp someone castigated me--as she is a Kali worshipper--for suggesting anything to the contrary, despite actual Hindu worship) in spite of the fact that Kali is generally not offered blood sacrifices (unless, of course, by the seeming fringe element) and in a great many districts (even in the US) she is viewed (even physically when Her statues are hewn) as compassionate and loving! But, we Pagans tend to remain ignorant of this evidence, and should we happen to hear it, we disregard it with blatant cavalear! But, my own goddess--The Morrighan--is another story.

In the following article: http://wicca.timerift.net/gods/morrigan.html The author sites one "historian" named TW Rolleston and goes on to claim that "historiants" (plural!) are against identifying the mother-goddess, Anu, with the Morrighan. But, how can they NOT be when it's actually in the Irish epics where The Morrighan is listed as another identity OF (rather than a mere alternate "aspect" or association with) Anu! So, what "historians" is she talking about; and how can this Rolleston fellow be against this comperison when it's in black and white? I flipped through the book in question at the Half Price Bookstore, and Rolleston doesn't say; he just claims that another scholar identifies the two deities (as if they are seperate and entirely distinct personas), but he disagrees with such a position. Ugh... Crap like that makes me want to bash my red head in! LOL!

Rainwater Questions

To start, I want to know if there's further things I need to do to properly "ready" it for use in herbalist & ritual ways. I have tried to research this, but have only found sketch references. Below is what I've managed to suss out.

I recently found out that I can get a ready source of rainwater at home (hello leaky porch). I have filtered it out very thuroughly (I have a chemist hubby who's talked about this technique) & put it in glass canning jars. I put it in the fridge overnight last night (it was still raining), then out on the porch to catch the sun & moonlight. I intend to let it sit there until the full moon starts to wane. Do I need to let it go thru a FULL cycle or what?

Any help, suggestions, etc. is appreciated!

a fight against christian elitism in public school environments

Hello All,

I will try to be short and simple. I have chosen because of the extremely fundamental culture (near fascist) that can be found in public schools, and some issues with my outwardly protesting son.(He who would not raise his hand to the under god part of the US pledge)I chose an online virtual school.

Things have been pretty good, but all of sudden more and more teacher events are being scheduled in christian churches. They are meeting soon to administrate on my very well laid out concerns regarding the separation of church and state. The clear violations of my children's civil liberties and there by abuses to them.

So today instead of less I see more......... including a Spelling Bee, and a trip for school for "face to face" credit for get this........ The Creation Museum. Or as I call it the museum of christian denial and hack science.

If you can call on the goddess, and send out your prayers, thoughts, and good will on this I would truly deeply appreciate it! I will be good. I have good friends in some of the right careers to help.

Spiritually though it is monumental and if they do not see light, It will be a huge legal case.

I stand strong. I no longer allow my boundaries to be crossed. I have drawn my lines at the law, now they will retreat or be at war.

Namal Tribe's Humming Bird "Activation" Rite?

Hey guys, a while back I was watching "Tribal Life" on The Travel Channel. Anyway, they were documenting the Namal Tribe (not sure just exactly where they are situated, 'cause my computer's really sluggish at the moment and making it hard for me to even perform a google search!) who perform a ritual with the men whereby they gather to carve effigies of humming birds and "activate" them by dying them oir decorating them with a red pigment culled from a local fruit; afterwards this image is regarded as being, for all intents and purposes, alive!

I would like to find out any scholastic/ethnographic info. about this tribe's practice that I can locate, if anyone could aid me, due to an article I am presently working on (well, I'm still in the researching/out-lining phase) about cult-images. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find anmy reliable data about this on-line!

Names and Days question

I need a name of a god/goddess that protects from injustice, and a description and what to offer for sacrifice and what day and what way. ANyone got any ideas? im really needing this , dealin with a lot of injustice and blockheadedness from comanders that refuse to listen and only see black and white and discount any reasons that dont fit their viewpoint. I need a mothers defense of her child againstinjustice, someone that will FIGHT and MAKE things change. i need a kind loving goddess that will take up the defense of a man defending his wife-to-be and his child.

The ancient Slavic goddess Baba Yaga is the wild old crone guardian of the Water of Life and Death. She is the goddess of death and birth associated with Autumn, who sings while sprinkling corpses with the Water of Life to let them be reborn. Although she is fearsome to look upon, like all forces of nature that are often wild and untamed, she can also be kind.

Often depicted living in the deep centre of earth, or in a hut

The Goddess, "Samhain"?!

Hey guys, for MANY years we Pagans have been castigating our newby kindred-souls by stating (and deflating the popular notion) that there was no such Deity as "Samhain", after whom the Sabbat was named. But, is this so? Well, I had always heard that there was never any God (in the masculine) named "Samhain". But, it turns out, that there is certain a Goddess that bears this name--The Morrighan! I ordered an academic article from a Celtic Studies publication (I forget the title of the Journal and article off the top of my head, as I've filed them away for the moment) wherein The Morrighan, during the Da Derga's Hostel tale--when asked who She is--utters off a string of names and epithets, including MNacha, Bodb, Nemain, as well as even "Samhain"--"Summer's End"!!! So....there ya' go! ;o)

Just curious how everyone else is courting the goddess? As for me I have been working on extending my community online and offline. I just finished designing my art journal and in conjunction kind of coming out of the closet as a witch with my mother. That is part of my courting, to tell everyone this is it, now move aside. LOL!

My mother's husband is belongs to the Church of Christ. Scary People, that difficult combination of what I call Arrogant Ignorance. I know what the repercussions will be for my mother, but she will have to draw her lines, I have drawn mine. I just can't swallow hiding my faith anymore, it especially contradicts the courting of a goddess like Morrigan. Funny thing was, when she was with my father, there was none of this christian crap in her house.

Ultimately she can't complain with Brenda having raven and fire meanings, and Diane, being the goddess of the hunt, what was she expecting? Sorry to unwind that. But alas that is what has fueled my tenacity, mostly I am celebrating. Hoping to have her altar ready by Samhain.

that addiction runs rampid, and theres this thought that if your

Law of Harmony

Laws are the dictates of nature. When adhered to, they produce harmony. Human laws ideally ought to reflect laws of nature. When they don't, then disharmony is created.

When we think of harmony we typically think of music, as this is a clearly seen, or heard, expression of harmony. When sounds are harmonious they are pleasing to us. When notes are combined in different ways they can produce chords, which are used to produce pieces of music we can enjoy together. What is interesting about this example is that for a chord to be produced from a combination of notes, each note must contribute to that formation. Otherwise, discord results from the disharmony.

When a note 'disregards' the whole of which it is a part and does its own thing, discord results. When an individual disregards others and is focused just on doing his or her own thing, disharmony is often created. Just as the note finds its true value in relation to what it contributes, so too humans find their personal value and deeper satisfaction in their contribution to others.

This contribution does not imply conformity, however. When we conform we lose our individuality and our personal uniqueness and value. It is this unique value which is our most precious contribution to others.

Harmony implies that a living thing, including you and me, must contribute in a way that augments (we often say, empowers) others if harmony is to be created. What empowers are those universal qualities we have within ourselves that others need to have supported or awakened within themselves.

When the question of harmony is considered there are always two realities - individuals and a collection of individuals, be they notes, people, animals, etc. A collection of individual humans can be called a community. There are many words in different languages that relate to this fundamental reality of human nature - words like community, commune, communication, communion, common, the commons, commonwealth, and commonweal.

The principle law governing community is the Law of Harmony. A community is a natural reality, and the Law of Harmony is a natural universal law. One of the greatest difficulties we have on the planet is existence of communities in conflict. We have a real need to attempt to create more harmonious communities. Our ability to express ourselves adequately and fulfill our purpose for being depends upon it.

Community is an externalization of the reality we call soul. Literally, a community is a group of individuals living in unity. Most people do not think of unity when they think of community, seeing it more as a collection of individuals who happen to be together. When a community does not live in unity, the soul of the community is denied, and therefore unconditional love, which is the essence of soul, is thwarted. This deprivation of connection and acceptance, easily leads to fear, mistrust, isolation, and in many cases also to racism, hatred and war.

Unity is not uniformity. It therefore does not require conformity. Unity is a state of consciousness and therefore respects diversity of form and expression. It suggests unanimity, which means to be of one spirit or one soul. It is an inner identification with the other as oneself. We could say that it is the soul within recognizing itself in the other. For at a soul level we are one.

Harmony produces harmonics. These are resonances in other octaves. What this means psychologically and spiritually is that when harmony is present those experiencing it open themselves automatically to other dimensions of reality and other levels of their own being. Harmony awakens potentials and expands consciousness, bringing into expression through individuals such qualities as respect, acceptance, tolerance, understanding, empathy, compassion and unanimity.

Harmony awakens the soul and soul creates a community of people who live together creatively and purposefully through which the very best in human nature can unfold.

Balance and Tension

We live in a world of opposites that we often experience as conflict. But fortunately everything eventually balances with its opposite - absolutely everything! The nature of duality implies an underlying unity. So whenever one side of duality is isolated, expressed or identified, the opposite is always a potential and immediately sought. One side of any duality cannot exist by itself, except through repression of its opposite. Or said another way, one side does not exist by itself and cannot be isolated except in a hypothetical sense. What holds a duality together to create a unity is tension.

Tension is the bond of opposites. It is because of tension that growth takes place and evolution is possible. There are always forces operating against each other, and it is this which makes life interesting, exciting, challenging, frustrating and fulfilling. All healthy and growing relationships embody this tension. Two people who are very similar might have a pleasant relationship but they are unlikely to be catalysts for each other's growth.

When a person does something contrary to one's nature or inherent goodness, there is an impulse to balance it with something natural and good. This is conscience, we say. But conscience is the voice of balance within the psyche. So, too, when a person does or expresses something in a positive or good way, there is an impulse toward the negative or dark side. Many people, because of their superficiality or ignorance, act on this impulse, manifesting it outwardly through negative behaviour. The result of the negative behaviour, which was considered acceptable because of rationalization when done, often leads to guilt or some self-recrimination, which then might lead to some positive choice or another negative act, depending on the consciousness of the individual. The negative impulse, following positive expressions, has the purpose of making us aware of some inner negative within our subconscious that is wanting to surface in order to be resolved. Through this kind of awareness, there grows the ability to express increasingly the light, love and power that naturally exists within each of us. Through awareness we become empowered and we eventually realize that we have choice in every situation, that we can choose to respond or to react.

It is interesting to observe the principle that all energy follows the path of least resistance. Another principle of life is that tension always seeks resolution. Putting the two principles together we can say that tension always seeks resolution through the path of least resistance. Examples of this might be that ignorance seeks awareness through the experience of not knowing what is needed or desired in any given situation; fear seeks courage through the experience of feeling inadequate; fear seeks love through the experience of being separate or isolated.

Whenever we want to create something, make some changes or expand consciousness in some way, we need to create the appropriate tension that will bring the results (resolution) that we are looking for. The question we ask must be the right question related to our goal or direction. This means we must choose our words carefully.

The greatest tension for expanding consciousness and 'creating soul' is the tension of opposites between personality and soul, such as the simultaneous presence of fear (personality) and courage (soul). The fear prompts one to fight or flight, while the courage prompts one to stand up to what needs to be faced. These opposite urges naturally and strongly seek resolution so action can take place. Tension would cease if either of the opposites was repressed or avoided. Both must remain equally present in order for a transformation to occur.

A similar tension that is experienced quite often is the basic fear-love opposition. The soul's nature is love which constantly seeks union, cooperation, and support with the other. The personality's tendency, rooted in a sense of separateness and fear, seeks security, individuality, control and independence. While the personality dominates there is no tension. When the personality is passive or not active and soul seeks to inspire or express, there is also no tension. There needs to be active participation on both parts, soul and personality, to create tension.

When there is wounding, crisis or even inspiration, the soul often becomes active and creates a tension with the personality. This tension seeks resolution, which is not a suppression of either side of the tension, but a union of the two to create something greater. This results in a deeply authentic expression of one's true nature.

If we want to keep a creative process moving along, we need to ask the questions and be open to the answers that do not stop the process. Every resolution must give rise to a new tension to keep a process moving. If you ask: "How should I do this?" and you answer: "I don't know," you have a resolution that does not create further tension. The process then stops. One answer that would create further tension might be, "I could be more open to ..." You do not have to give a final or definitive answer to questions, but an answer that is honest or plausible, but which can give rise to another question.

This same process must be applied when seeking to become more authentic. Ask questions related to authenticity, and give answers that create new tensions to keep the process going further and further into the centre of one's being - to the transpersonal levels of life.

The most basic question to ask often regarding one's authentic nature is: who am I? Obviously there is no definitive answer. But whenever we ask ourselves this question we must give ourselves an answer which can be questioned further. For every answer ask another question that takes you deeper into understanding and connection with your true self.

1. Identify some negative trait or tendency within your personality; then identify the soul quality (a positive opposite) that would create a tension within you. Practice being with both simultaneously.

2. Write a series of questions with responses that keep the tension going.

Inanna is the Sumerian goddess, honoured at the dark moon, as it is she who fixes destinies at each new moon. Inanna's journey into the underworld and subsequent revitalisation represents the soul's evolution through hardship into glorious renewal.

In her quest for clarity and knowledge, Inanna Queen of Heaven and Earth descended to Earth to rule her people, where (so that her people would not know hunger) she made a sacred marriage to ensure the fertility of the lands. She thirsted to understand first-hand though, the true sufferings of her followers, so she descended again, this time to the realm of the underworld, the domain of her sister Ereshkigal.

Ereshkigal only allowed Inanna entry on the condition that she shed her earthly attachments at each of seven gates to the underworld. So, at each gate, Inanna surrendered some part of what she thought made up herself: wealth, power, tributes. By the time she relinquished her final garment, she was no longer the commanding Queen, and, exposed
and vulnerable, she was ready to die.

However, it was only when she was near death and at her most vulnerable did she discover new life and increased powers. She finally learned first-hand to accept her vulnerability, as well as the understanding of the necessity of sacrifice and death for the cycles of life to continue. These revelations increased her power, beauty and wisdom.

HER MODERN ENERGY

If you are repeating old habits, ask Inanna to help you shed your layers that keep you trapped. Open yourself to a journey to the underworld where you can let go of old conditioning, release inhibitions, let alter-egos die, shed the burdens you carry... all to create anew - it is only by becoming aware of our vulnerabilities that we can rise up with strength gained from knowledge and understanding.

Undress slowly in front of a mirror and with every bit of clothing you shed, call it by the name of a negative element in your life. Say good-bye to that negative element as you drop (or throw!) the clothing to the floor until you are standing naked.

Do it to music that will help keep you in the "now" - do not let yourself get distracted as you focus on what the elements are that you are shedding. Can you see your next steps, where you need to go, what you need to do? Give yourself a hug, and get ready for the journey back to strength and renewal - Inanna is with you to help you stay focussed and unwavering on your goal

Cerridwen in the Gila

I'm interested in any and all stories of Cerridwen in the Gila. I know, for instance, that two children, at least, were born of Gila origin a decade ago. I know that one of these children is mine, and that the name is NO mere coincidence.

Has anyone else had experience with Cerridwen in the Gila? The Gila is a national forest area in western New Mexico which does lead into Eastern Arizona. Coyote, javelina, bullfrogs, cows... and sacred ancient paths...lithium hotsprings...rushing rivers in desert canyons... beautiful days and harsh cold nights of brilliant starscene.

Cauldrons

Does anyone know a good place to buy a cauldron that would hold at least a couple of gallons of liquid? I live on a rock in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and shipping for "heavy" items cost more than the item itself, so that is a major factor. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I could have it shipped to family on the mainland, but have not found any "large" cauldrons on the witchy store sites I have visited.

Well met. My name is Aleera, and I serve both Cerridwen and the Morrighan. I read in _Lord of Light and Shadow_ that Welsh Bards called themselves "Sons/Daughters of Cerridwen." There was no footnote for that statment that I could find.

There was a mini flame war about this on another forum I belong to. Some were saying that the Morrigan was Morrigna in ancient texts and others were saying that their personal deity is called Morrigna.

Hello and something I wanted to share

Hm, not a lot of activity here... Apparently I never introduced myself either, so I guess I can take a lil bit of responsibility for the silence.

In any case, today marks my four years and a day anniversary of conscious magickal study, or at least the anniversary of the day I picked up my first book and really researched the stuff. By then I had already had many unusual experiences, such as coming up with a word I didn't know when my parents were trying to remember it, etc.

I'm solitary, though would like to be in some kind of group at some point. I'm mostly self-taught and consider my path to be more like pagan shamanism since my primary interest is in exploring higher levels of consciousness, or maybe more accurately, OTHER types of consciousness. I don't use entheogens or any type of herbs or drugs to get into a trancey state. I've found just by asking for greater awareness and meditating and focusing, the experiences will come to you.

Anyway just wanted to say hi.

Cerridwen as Dark Muse...

Recently, I read on the various aspects of the Muse goddess, as both giver and taker in terms of creativity. I have always felt Cerridwen to be the dark aspect of the Muse, stirring her pot of knowledge, ready to destroy anyone who abuses it or takes it for granted. Are there any thoughts on this?

Hard to find (loosely termed) pagans who are about the darkness as well as the light. Most of them just seem so darn _sunny_. Good for them, but...
